My Testimony - Part 6 Prayer To Jesus My Saviour
I feel like I'd be doing a huge disservice if I didn't share the in-depth study I've done on this topic over several years - Prayer To Jesus My Saviour. I don't expect the reader to agree with me at all. All I can hope for, is that the reader can respect that this is what I've personally dug out of the Scriptures myself, and while most people might disesteem it, I certainly don't. And if there is anyone out there that can personally identify with my story and this in-depth study I want you to know that there is hope and it's much easier to deal with than you might expect. Simple and heartfelt prayer to Jesus is all that's necessary, but you might find you need to do it often before you're set free. By praying often, I don't mean monotonous prayer. I mean a heartfelt ongoing discussion with your Saviour Jesus Christ who says He's the Saviour of the whole world. He doesn't force us to believe Him, but He invites us to.
Prayer to Jesus directly, has never let me down. The biggest obstacle I had when praying to Jesus, was convincing myself that I wasn't doing anything wrong by doing so. There are many Scriptures that people will throw at you to try and convince you you're doing wrong by praying to Jesus. And despite my prayers always being answered when I prayed to Him, it still didn't prevent me from being tripped up by these clever arguments against it. One such example is when the Disciples asked the Lord to teach them how to pray. The Lord Jesus started with the following:
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:9-15
While the Our Father is a prayer that I pray on occasion, more often than not I'm having a rolling conversation with the Lord Jesus. I call it a rolling conversation because there is no formalities to it at all. I literally talk to Him like He's ever-present with me and when I think about it, I talk to Him the way He talks to me. He doesn't announce who He is first saying, "Hi, it's your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ calling!" LOL! He just talks freely but definitely to the point. He doesn't seem to beat around the bush at all, and I like that because it feels like you know where you stand with Him at all times. Either He's speaking, spoken or quiet, and trying to discern which one of these He is at any given moment is probably the hardest part. But it gets easier over time. There are many verses for the soul that's looking for them, where Jesus encourages us to come to Him and ask Him. Here's just a few examples:
All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink. He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7:37-39
